Here you can read incoming questions and answers in connection with the free webinar on Safe behavior in potentially explosive areas.
During the webinar, several questions were asked about specific gases. We reproduce some of them here.
What are the requirements in zone 2? Heating/cooling machine with ammonia as coolant. It looks like ammonia is in Group 1?
Ammonia NH3 CAS No. 7664-41-7 Density in relation to air: 0.59 (Light gas) Gas group IIA, T-Class T1 LEL 15% UEL 33.6%
What requirements apply to charging electric forklifts? The chargers themselves do not appear to be EX designed, open contactors etc
Connection/Disconnection will constitute a potential source of ignition and must not be carried out without a confirmed gas-free area.
What about storing chlorine and sulfuric acid in the technical room of the pool? Should it be stored in a separate room?
Don't know this in detail, but chlorine and sulfuric acid mixed together can probably create a chemical reaction, feel free to contact a chemist to find out what gas is possibly formed. It may also be a good idea to use the internal control system to assess / document the dangers of having them stored, and possibly consider measures.
