QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Does Annex J have to be filled in in its entirety, or can reference be made to another list, as was done earlier in the data sheet?
All Ex equipment must be listed with Ex code and conditions for safe use and all certificates with "X" conditions must be attached.

Ex enclosures with their own certificate no. do not need to be reproduced as these are covered by the certificate for the completed enclosure.

Documentation for the temporary equipment (container or frame) must include a list of all Ex-certified equipment on the unit, see section 5.8.2. The attached example shows the minimum information that this must contain - see table J.1 So the answer is that you can add a list but the list must contain information as shown in the table in appendix J

Now the declaration of conformity refers to specific revisions of ATEX, EMC etc. Guess this can be changed by supplier?
A declaration of conformity is basically a static document that was issued (with the norms and standards and regulations that were then applicable) when the equipment was assembled and delivered and as long as the equipment is maintained in accordance and no changes are made to the equipment beyond normal maintenance, the declaration of conformity is in accordance with the package/product that is delivered and has no need or requirement to change. When there are new requirements which mean that the equipment no longer meets the requirements specified in the latest edition, this must be made visible in the form of a list of non-conformities and a new updated Z-015 declaration of conformity with the non-conformities listed in the non-conformity field.

Answers that you give to questions here, are they clarified with EG Z? If there is a discussion with the controller, can we hit the table with an answer from Trainor? Or are their answers, their interpretation of Z-015:2020?
No, these must be processed by the Norsok Z-015 committee before they can be used as a reference. UPDATED: The answers have been reviewed by the committee, and should be OK, but the committee specifies that they cannot be used as a reference in a possible dispute case.

How is it then with normative standards that are referred to? Must all those in the list of normative standards be followed to the letter for all containers/equipment mentioned in Z-015?
Normative references: Excerpts from the standard

The following (the long list of Normative references under point 2) referenced documents contain text that is fully or partially included in the requirements of this document (NORSOK Z-015). For dated references, only the indicated edition applies. For undated references, the most recent edition of the referenced document (with any amendment sheets) applies. To take an example. In point 5.2.1 Type: A Housing container point g it says that NORSOK C-001 and NORSOK C-002 must be carried out in accordance, while in point h) NORSOK S-001 subsection 20.4.6 must apply. So some must be followed completely and some only for selected points.

Signals from containers to CCR"", that ""Outputs for alarms must not be activated when the temporary equipment is de-energized. That this should apply to gas and fire alarms makes sense, but is the idea that this should also apply to common faults (common alarm)? It may often be desirable for the rig to receive an alarm if a piece of equipment is disconnected/loses voltage etc. Several rigs/platforms have this as their standard.
This is described in section 5.4.4 under section "Signals from Container to CCR". The starting point for this requirement is to remove unnecessary alarms and thus noise into the CCR. You are absolutely right that there may be different requirements for different rigs and operating companies. I therefore recommend that everyone who works with such issues look at the company-specific requirements at this link: https://standard.no/en/sectors/energi-og-klima/petroleum/norsok-standard-categories/z-temporary-equipm/z-015n9/

Who is the 3rd party? NoBo?
Notified body: DNV GL Presafe. Alternatively, it could be, Classification of Ships: e.g. DNV-GL. It may be that the operator can appoint a third party who is not NB or approved in hh to rouls of shipping.

Which language has precedent? English or Norwegian?
For Z-015, English is the main language and has precedent. For some other NORSOK standards, they are written in Norwegian and translated into English. The original language always takes precedence over the translated version.

Test of electric motors? What are the requirements regarding testing of motor protection and motor monitoring with regard to temperature? Difference between small single-phase and larger 3-phase motors?
This is described in NORSOK Z-015 rev 6 Appendix I

Zone 2 3rd party cert. also applied to E-001 2007 ref. 10.2.3
Hello and that is correct and you are absolutely right that in the previous revision of E-001 there is the same text, but in edition NORSOK Z-015 rev 4 then section 10.2.3 was not (NORSOK E-001 rev 5) on the list of items in table 9. It was also not included in (NORSOK Z-015 revision 5), but item 9.2 then entered revision 6 as an item and then as a requirement.

The declaration of conformity refers to specific revisions of ATEX, e.g., (2014). But when we have equipment that complies with ATEX 1994, can we change the declaration of conformity to refer to 1994?
A declaration of conformity is basically a static document that was issued when the equipment was assembled and delivered. As long as equipment is maintained in accordance and no changes are made to the equipment beyond normal maintenance, the declaration of conformity is in accordance with the package/product that is delivered and has no need or requirement to be changed in this way in the first place. When there are new requirements which mean that the equipment no longer meets the requirements specified in the latest edition, this must be made visible in the form of a list of non-conformities or updated and a new Norsok Z-015:2020 declaration of conformity must be issued in which all non-conformities are listed.

Can you tell me something about how to order the Z-015. How to proceed with this
As an orderer, I will refer to appendix A in NORSOK Z-015 revision 6 point A.2.1 and point A.2.2

In addition J, must absolutely all Ex components be listed? (motors, cabinets, nipples, terminal blocks etc?)
Yes, all Ex equipment must be listed with Ex code and conditions for safe use and all certificates with "X" conditions must be attached.

Ex enclosures with their own certificate no. do not need to be reproduced as these are covered by the certificate for the completed enclosure.
